DS 160
DS 160 is an important thing that you should fill
out very carefully because, during your interview process, the interviewer
will look into that document based on that document and ask the questions in
the interview. Ds 160 consists of education details that should be filled in
very carefully and if a person is experienced in a job every column should be
filled carefully. We should cross-verify Ds 160 multiple times once we have done
with filling the document. Because it plays an important role during our
interview process once the document is submitted, we cannot change the details
again.
Slot Booking
To give an interview we must book a slot for OFC and VI.
We cannot book slots whenever we want slots will be open randomly. We must wait
for slots until it opens. There will be OFC and VI, OFC means that Biometrics,
at that time takes our fingerprints and photographs. During OFC they check all
our details whether they are correct or not. The photo taken on OFC will be
reflected in our passport after the completion of the visa approval. After
completion of OFC, you will have a Visa interview.
Tips for slot booking
1) Always check the portal regularly because the slot may open at any time.
2) Be careful while booking slots because sometimes it randomly confirms the default location it automatically redirects to some other location that we are not interested in.
3) Make sure that there should be some gap between OFC and VI, because if OFC and VI are at different places.
4) Join Telegram and WhatsApp groups. Regular updates will be posted in groups, if sometimes you miss checking the portal people in groups will be informed in the groups.
5) It is better to choose early hours for giving a visa interview.
Accommodation near consulates
The important thing to keep in mind while booking accommodation near consulates.
1) It's better to choose accommodation close to the consulate, so we can go early to the consulate.
2) Check whether a transportation facility is available or not from the accommodation to the consulate.
3) Collect information from students who previously went to the consulate before, they have a better idea about that place.
4) Make a booking before reaching that place during peak time you may not find room to stay.
5) Always choose a safe and secure place to stay because you carry documents and also check reviews and ratings of the hotels.
Travel options to the consulate on the interview day
1) Check whether there is public transport available at the location where
you are staying from the accommodation to the consulate.
2) Keep in mind about traffic signals and distance to travel because you
should be at least 30 minutes before the interview.
3) Check the availability of Uber and Ola facilities, if it is available,
it is a better option to choose to reach the location early.
4) If you have your vehicle, it is also a better option to reach near the
consulate but keep in mind about traffic and parking facilities.
5) Share rides with other people who are going to attend the interview it saves money for everyone.
The tips and tricks which I have followed during my journey
1) I took 3 – 4 days to submit my DS
160, I have verified all my details multiple times because once we submit then
we cannot change it again
2) Regular checking of portal for
booking visa slots, once slots are opened then it will be closed within minutes.
3) I have taken accommodation near the
consulate to reach as early as possible to adjust the time because my interview
time is at 8:00 am.
4) I have travelled via Uber auto from
my room to the consulate, I have reached the location very early, and I suggest
it is a better option to choose.
